Description
This guide will help you fix a large scratch on the underside of your snowboard, restoring its smoothness and performance. No previous experience with snowboard maintenance is required.
Items
- 1soft cloth
- 1mild cleaner
- 1P-Tex candle
- 1metal scraper
- 1fine-grit sandpaper
Steps
- 1. Clean the Affected Area
Begin by thoroughly cleaning the scratch and the surrounding area on your snowboard using a soft cloth and a mild cleaner. Ensure the surface is dry before proceeding to the next step. Remove any particles that could interfere with the repair process.
- 2. Apply The P-Tex Candle
Light the P-Tex candle and allow it to melt, dripping the molten plastic into the scratch. Move steadily to fill the scratch completely. Be cautious with the flame and hot P-Tex.
- 3. Let The P-Tex Cure
Allow the P-Tex to set and cool for at least 30 minutes. The P-Tex should harden to form a solid bond with the snowboard base.
- 4. Scrape The Excess P-Tex
Using a metal scraper, gently remove excess P-Tex from the repaired area until it is level with the base of the snowboard. Be careful not to gouge the surrounding area.
- 5. Buff the Repaired Surface
Finish the repair by buffing the area with a fine-grit sandpaper. This will smooth out the repaired surface and prepare it for use.
